One example was during the Victorian Age. One of the main problems was that, in order to maintain the integrity of the appearance the aspects of health was neglected. For example, in Oliver Twist, the protagonist was “imprisoned” in the workhouses, a place where homeless people were put in in order to make the street look cleaner.
