In 2016 I went to England with my school. The students lodged in host families in order to talk as much as possible in English. A classmate of mine and me went to Lucy’s house, a woman a little bit introverted but very gentle and available.

Every morning we went to school, where we participated English lessons and also business lessons, in order to do some hours of Alternanza Scuola- Lavoro project. It was very interesting because we were divided in groups and worked on economic issues such as setting up a store. For example, we focused on what a chocolate-shop needs and on the creation of slogans and a shop’s signboard.

In the afternoon we visited the city of Bath and other important cites nearby.

Bath is a famous city because of its known Roman thermal baths and its Jane Austen’s museum (Jane Austen actually lived there for five years). Walking around the city, we could see the Gothic Abbey, the Royal Crescent architecture and the fantastic parks, bridges and streets which enrich the city.

What most of all surprised me were the natural colors in that period of the year. It was November, so it was autumn and the leaves of trees were red, green, yellow and brown and all of them created a breathtaking view.

After the first few days, we moved to other cities. The experience that I liked most was the visiting Stonehenge. It was absurd: we could see stones around 5000 years old, which were built in a mysterious way by primitive men.It was a very strange feeling: in 2016 we can still see such old architectures, which are considered famous and important that are even in every history book.

Another experience which made me feel strange was the visit to Salisbury, where we had the opportunity to see the Magna Carta, a charter of right signed by King John of England  to make peace between the unpopular King and a group of rebel barons. It promised the protection of church rights, protection for the barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown. We had recently studied it during the history lessons, so it was very exciting and interesting.

It was the first time I went to England, which honestly never attracted me. But now, after going to Bath with my school, I would like to go back and visit it better.
